ABOUT JACK WEEKS
Hello friends and family. Here we begin to share with you Jack’s story.
On June 27, 2020, Jack ran into the ocean in Delaware and dove in. The water was too shallow, and Jack landed on the top of his head and his body came crashing down on top of him, damaging his neck from C4-C6. He was instantly paralyzed and unable to breathe. Our boy was brought back to life by some amazing doctors, ER personnel and everyday heroes that were on the beach. Jack was then taken to a nearby hospital for assessment and intubated. About 30 minutes later, he was airlifted to Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE.
Over the next four weeks, Jack underwent two surgeries (shout out to Dr. Shah and Dr. Campbell) to stabilize his neck and had a tracheostomy in order to be supported by a ventilator. We will never be able to express the way we felt being with the people at A.I. duPont. We are so very grateful to everyone there who touched our lives…..these are truly some of the most amazingly kind, loving, giving and knowledgeable people we have met in our life.
As our journey at A.I. duPont came to an end, we headed to The Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA for inpatient rehabilitation. Where another adventure began.
Jack, age 16 at the time, is strong, kind and courageous. He has fought like a warrior so far and I know he will continue to work his body as much as possible to gain his independence. The road is long, and much help will be needed along the way. Our family has set up this site to keep Jack’s Warrior Tribe up to date with all that Jack is doing and to ask for your help.
Jack’s world has changed, our world has changed. It’s hard to imagine what kind of expenses are ahead of us. We will do anything to give him all the tools he needs to live his best life.
Through the non-profit organization Help Hope Live, we are raising money to fund uninsured medical expenses associated with Jack’s Spinal Cord Injury. Please Note: If you are planning to contribute, contributions are updated on the site every 24 hours. If you donate Anonymously there is no way for us to say thank you!
We thank every one of you for your continued prayers and positive energy. They are working! Check back frequently to learn about Jack’s progress. I am betting on this warrior to amaze us all!
Peace, love and light,
Cammie and Kip
